Raquel Alvarez arrested after foot chase:
Police in Los Angeles are investigating the arrest of Raquel Alvarez after she evaded officers around the Alhambra area. She is being held on suspicion of grand theft auto, felony evading and hit-and-run. The Alhambra Police Department attempted to pull Alvarez over after she allegedly ran a red light in a white van. However, Alvarez did not stop, and instead fled north on the 101 freeway and westbound I-10 freeway. The pursuit was then taken over by California Highway Patrol officers.
The chase ended in El Sereno near Warwick Avenue and Martin Street. Alvarez surrendered to police officers after the chase. She was arrested and charged with grand theft auto, felony evading, and hit and run. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.
Authorities say Alvarez was driving a stolen Mini Cooper when she was pulled over. Police believe the vehicle was stolen in Los Angeles. The Alhambra Police Department will present the case to the district attorney’s office to pursue the case. The two women who were in the van were not arrested.
