AMD is already making some changes to their next-generation GPUs to compete with Nvidia, with AMD lowering the price of their RDNA 2 alternatives. While this is good for consumers, it will hurt game console sales. Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 sales will take a hit after Nvidia introduces their new GPUs. So, what’s the best choice for gaming? Read on to find out. This article will explain what the three new RTX series GPUs have to offer.
Founders Edition cards feature dual axial fans
The next-generation GeForce “Ampere” graphics card features a dual-fan cooling solution. Both fans push out hot air from the cooling solution, but one is located on the reverse side. The PCB extends two-thirds of the way along with the card. The leak prompted NVIDIA to start an investigation into the company’s manufacturing partners, BYD and Foxconn.
The dual-axial fans on the Founders Edition NVIDIA 3000 graphics cards work in tandem to dissipate heat. The rear fan, located near the GPU, pulls air from the bottom of the card. The front fan, located on the top, exhausts the air out the top of the system. Both fans are controlled via the Dual Bios switch. The Dual Bios switch allows for customization of the default performance profile.
A new GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition card is cooler than previous-generation cards. The GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition’s dual-axial fans are much quieter. This card also uses a blower-style cooler, while the reference-design model features a bare PCB. The GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition features GDDR6X memory.
RTX 3080
When the RTX 3080 GPU arrived on the market nine months ago, it was already a hit. The tensor cores and teraflops meant that “RTX”-optimized games ran like a dream and were a treat for graphics hounds trapped at home. However, Nvidia did not stop there. The company went on to announce some other great new features in the RTX 3080 and the RTX 5000 series as well.
The RTX 3080 NVIDIA 3K series is the pinnacle of gaming performance in 2020. Other cards in the RTX range, such as the AMD RDNA2 graphics card, can’t compete with its performance. But the RTX 3080 offers the best of Nvidia’s features, including DLSS and G-Sync. Moreover, it has excellent streaming support. The RTX 3090 is a larger version of the RTX 3080.
RTX 3090
The GeForce RTX 3000 series was released on January 20, 2020, and was the successor to the GeForce RTX 2000 series. These new cards use the Ampere Microarchitecture, which focuses on a different approach to computing. The RTX 3000 series has dedicated FP32 cores and a mixed core count that handles both types of calculation. The resulting performance boost will vary according to the type of job being run, with a greater boost if the workload is predominantly FP32.
While there was speculation about the RTX 3090, it was eventually released. It had a slightly higher price than the 2080 Ti. The RTX 3090 is a generational leap in GPU performance. Its new GPU core, called Ampere, is nearly twice as powerful as the previous generation, which is good news for gamers. The price of the RTX 3090 is still below the $2050 mark.
RTX 3070
The RTX 3070 is an entry-level graphics card that has a CUDA core count of 2,944. The RTX 3080 and RTX thirty90 have 48% and 21% more CUDA cores, respectively. As the cards get more expensive, the clock speeds drop and the CUDA core counts increase, giving big performance jumps. You can choose the one that’s best suited for your budget and needs.
Both the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 feature dual fans, although some rumours suggest that Founders Edition cards will have independent push and pull configurations. All Founders Edition cards will come with two fans, whereas third-party cards will have a conventional two-fan design. Gainward’s RTX 3090 graphics card is a two-fan design with an additional fan on the rear of the card.
